Quicksand

So I once saw on Mythbusters that they busted the myth about quicksand, but I'm not so sure. By one of the glaciers in Juneau there's a big flat space carved out by the glacier that is just rocks and sand and a river flows through it trickling off all across the flat area. Near the middle of this flat area (which you can kind of see in some of the other pictures) there was a thick area of trees. I decided I wanted to go into the trees, but as I approached the trees, the sand became softer and softer until I eventually sunk knee deep into the sand. It didn't matter how hard I tried, I could not pull my leg out. Someone else tried to help pull me out, but my leg would have broken had he kept pulling. There was so much pressure on my leg under the sand that the only way I was able to get out was by digging my leg out. It was actually quite hilarious, but made me think you could get trapped in quicksand.
